Bio

Allyssa completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in 2011 and a Master of Science in Nursing-Family Nurse Practitioner degree in 2020 from UNBC.  Originally starting as a Registered Nurse at Spectrum Health in 2018, she now joins us as a Nurse Practitioner.

Prior to joining Spectrum Health, Allyssa worked for various health authorities in the Lower Mainland providing care to patients in medical/surgical, nephrology, and primary care clinic settings.  She has worked at Langara College Health Services providing primary care to students and the Heartwood Centre for Women where she focused on women affected by severe substance use and mental health challenges.  Allyssa splits her time as a Nurse Practitioner between Spectrum Health and the Health Initiative for Men.

Allyssa’s special interests include primary care, sexual health, HIV prevention, STI management, and women’s health (including insertions of IUD and implant contraception).  She spends her free time with her husband, airedale terrier, reading thriller/mystery books, and sweating on a pilates machine.
